A crowd of over 150 people packed the Osmond Terrace Function Room on Saturday night to witness internationally acclaimed trumpeter Leroy Jones and his Quintet.
Leroy, his wife Katja on trombone, and four other locally reknown Adelaide jazz musicians delighted the excited crowd for over three hours with an incredible performance playing tunes such as "When the Saints Come Marching In", "What a Wonderful World", and "Georgia".
Leroy graciously accepted requests to assist in raising funds for the SRFF which raised a further $600 for the nights proceedings.
Overall, more than $4200 was raised for the Sam Roberts Family fund which supports families in South Australia who have children battling rare illnesses.
On behalf of the SRFF we are extremely grateful to Leroy Jones, his wife Katja, and his band members Marty Holoubek, Jon Hunt, Dave McEvoy and Ben Riley. Special thanks to the Pembroke School Big Band, Jazz Band, and Jazz Choir for their inspiring performances earlier in the evening, and to Pembroke School Director of Music, Mr Darryl Pope, for coordinating the show.
