The Sam Roberts Family Fund

The Sam Roberts Family Fund is dedicated to the memory of Sam Roberts who passed away on April 19, 2005 at the age of 4 years 10 months.

Sam fought a courageous battle with Niemann-Pick Disease Type C, a rare neurological degenerative disease of which there is no cure. There are only 500 known cases of this disease in the world.

The Sam Roberts Family Fund proudly supports the Paediatric Palliative Care Service of the Adelaide Women's and Children's Hospital. In particular, The Sam Roberts Family Fund supports families in South Australia who have children battling rare diseases.

Approximately 50% of children diagnosed with a terminal illness have a rare disease of some type. Currently there is little funding or support for such children and their families.

Since 2006 The Sam Roberts Fund has raised over $650,000 through the promotion of its "Cycle 4 Sam" fund-raising, epic bike rides.

Cycle 4 Sam "7"-Tour of the Eyre Peninsula, commences in Port Lincoln on 18 April 2018. This year's ride is a 900km regional tour of the Eyre Peninsula with overnight stops at Coffin Bay, Elliston, Cleve and Tumby Bay before concluding in Port Lincoln on Monday 23 April. Our goal is to raise a further $60,000 towards the WCH Foundation Beach House at Encounter Lakes. The Beach House will enable families who have children with rare, life-limiting illnesses to have a holiday together, creating special memories

Construction on the WCHF Beach House is due to commence in mid 2018.
